In the twenty first century, where data runs at the speed of light, there is no room for missteps in the security of large assets. The sector must be undoubtedly treated as a crucial case because one small mistake can cost millions and waste so much human labor. The challenges in remote sensing are rising with the increased demand of energy and rising competition in the field.
Oil and gas industries are confronting many problems every day and manual solutions are not adequate to meet these limitations appropriately. The seed idea behind Tranzmeo arose from this dilemma faced by the oil and gas industries. To unravel this difficulty, a next-generation technology system had to be deployed to monitor the pipelines.
Tranzmeo Begins
Founded in 2017, Tranzmeo is an anomaly forensic company that focuses on the numerous prospects of AI-Integrated remote sensing. With a vision of making the future smart and exploring the potential of AI, Mr. Safil Sunny, the founder, and CEO of Tranzmeo paved the foundation for this futuristic company. Primarily, Tranzmeo is a product-based IT company that provides next-generation solutions for issues in the remote sensing domain.
After keen research and preparations, Tranzmeo developed its core product, T-Connect OneView which is a smart pipeline intrusion detection system governed by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Without restricting itself to a single application domain, The T-Connect OneView is applicable and adaptable to a vast spectrum of fields such as refineries, subsea, railways, border, and perimeter security, etc. Integrating photonics with the power of machine learning was the company’s central mission and Tranzmeo has completed a successful five years in implementing this technology.
The oil and gas industry
Who could think of a world without vehicles and electricity? The world will stop running if we are limited from the accessibility to fuels. We are in constant demand of energy as the lifestyle and technologies have dramatically changed in the twenty first century. Although renewable energy sources are making their strong stamp in the fuel industry, we are still depending predominantly on conventional sources of energy.
Therefore, the oil and gas industry remains as one of the key pillars of the global economy. Whether it’s revenue or usage, oil and gas governs multiple other industries and sometimes even a country’s net income. As of 2022, the total revenue contributed by the oil and gas industry to the global economy surpasses $5 trillion. This makes the oil and gas industry influential in many other notable decisions of industrialists.
Oil and gas have signature roles in almost all the necessary sectors such as industrial production, electricity, and transportation. The energy demand of the developed countries has also been continuously hiked in recent years. The oil and gas industry is one of the major eight industry giants in India. When it comes to India, Pipelines are the arteries of the oil and gas industry. Most of the fuel transportation is done through these fuel veins that run across the country.
Fuel Transportation
Pipelines are considered as the ideal mode of transfer for oil and gas compared to other alternative modes of transportation. Pipelines are pivotal in every step including upstream, midstream, and downstream operations of the oil and gas industry. Pipelines belong to critical assets as it transports very hazardous substances. India has a length of 36284 km of pipelines and out of it, 26695 km are exclusively reserved for oil and gas. According to the analysis of the current data, The oil demand will go upwards up to double the present by the year 2045.
Compared to other modes of transportation, pipelines have many advantages. They consume less amount of energy when considering surface transportation energy costs. The transit losses and running costs are very less. It is sometimes 10 times lesser than the surface costs. Pipelines can reduce the wastage of fuel while transportation. There is no inconvenience due to the regional seasonal variations and climate changes. They can be drawn through any place according to our convenience. It can be drawn even underwater where we cannot think of any other transportation medium.
Monitoring Challenges
Despite the countless advantages, pipelines are not error-free either. They are prone to earthquakes and cracks can form anywhere in their length. Another major concern is the threat arising from terrorist organizations or anti-nationalists who target the oil and gas industry. Pipelines are highly susceptible to theft as it spreads for long distances.
There will also be leakages formed from corrosion or natural chemical reactions. In order to safeguard these pipelines that spread up to thousands of kilometers in length, we cannot resort to the traditional human patrolling or occasional diagnosis. As oil or gas is highly inflammable and dangerous, even a single leakage can create great hazards to the environment.
