A distributed acoustic sensing system measures dynamic strain associated with vibration and acoustic activity. A distributed temperature sensing system measures temperature along a fiber. Distributed strain sensing (DSS) measures strain for appropriately designed installations. Distributed fiber optic sensing solutions, or DFOS solutions, select these methods according to the physical question being asked.
Interrogation hardware and software are separate layers
A fiber optic interrogator reads the optical response of the sensing fiber. A DAS interrogator or DTS interrogator is distributed fiber optic sensing equipment selected for its measurement method. When evaluating a DAS system manufacturer or DTS system manufacturer, assess the hardware separately from the analytics platform. Tranzmeo’s hardware-agnostic positioning does not mean it manufactures every interrogator or supports every instrument without integration work.
Specify a complete monitoring workflow
A fiber optic pipeline monitoring system, power cable temperature monitoring system or railway monitoring system requires more than an instrument. Define fiber installation, acquisition, data access, location mapping, event interpretation and operator response.
